Small Business Taxes

To have basic knowledge about Small Business Taxes is essential for every small business owner. You have to know how taxes could help you to save money by spending money. Sounds funny? I am sure that it will definitely not seem funny to the people who have been in business for a long time.

If you made money, or better a profit, over the year you have to check what you could invest this money in and build up assets before the year is over and you have to pay taxes on it. An account is helpful in advising you to find the best solutions specific for your business situation.

Do you prepare your own tax returns?

Please do not. It could raise a red flag for the IRA.

Bring a local CPA on board when you start your business and let him or her take care of your tax issues, help you with your small business tax deductions , or in some cases, he or she could take care of your payroll so there is no need for you to purchase a payroll software program.

Did you ever hear about the joke that small business owners collect their receipts in a shoe box and drop off the box at the beginning of each year by leaving a desperate accountant behind who will charge you a huge amount for it?

A solution for this challenge could be to use Quickbooks. It is a great and professional accounting system. Perhaps it requires a little structure, focus and persistence but it will be worth it. And it also could help you to have all the numbers and expenses in place to take advantage of available tax deductions.

As I met my husband he had the "shoe box system" established. He collected all business receipts and brought it, just before the tax dead line, to the CPA. The few days between dropping of the box and the tax dead line were very stressful. My poor husband sweated blood because the CPA had more customers like him and was so very much under stress to meet the dead line for all of his customers.

It makes business life much easier when you try to be structured and organized all the time.
